Winter Covered Bridge | Watercolor Weekend |Art Impressions

Winter Covered Bridge

Hi Art Impressions Fans!  Welcome back to another Watercolor Weekend over at the Art Impressions Blog.  We are so excited you decided to join us.  I am showcasing a Winter Covered Bridge card where I use the birch trees in a little different way using my positioner and Molotow Masking Fluid.  I filmed this one for you to follow along with me…check it out here.

Winter Covered Bridge card details:

In order to get an idea of what I wanted to do, I started by googling some pictures of winter covered bridges in NH.  I really wanted to get a picture of a bridge in snow with some interesting trees around.  I think I got it.  I inked up a few of the birch trees with my Sepia and used my stamp positioner to stamp them where I wanted them. Then I repeated this process twice more with a different set of birch trees.  I masked them off using my Molotow masking fluid.  In order to make the trees larger, I used my Sepia fine tip to  extend the bottoms of them.

Using my stamp positioner, I inked up the covered bridge with Sepia and African Violet and placed it between the trees.  I softened the lines and added English Red, African Violet and Sepia from my palette.  I used some African Violet to create a river underneath the bridge and before the trees.

I used a post it note to protect the bridge while I stamped one of the branches around it.  I wanted them to look like trees.  I pulled the color out of the lines to extend them as well to make the bottoms look more like trunks.

I used the African Violet from my palette to add a sky.  That’s it, that’s all she wrote.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.   I hope you will join me, Dot and Tricia over at the Art Impressions Blog for Watercolor Weekend.  Upload your projects on Instagram and tag us, we would love to see your projects.
